Amy was elected as Chair of the committee in 2016 after joining in 2015 as an Events Organiser. She is a second year Trainee Solicitor at the Welsh Government, currently on secondment with Legal & Risk Services at the NHS. Amy is excited to be involved in promoting the local legal sector through the JLD and is looking forward to organising a host of interesting events!
Alex was elected vice-chair of the Committee in 2014. Alex joined the Committee in 2013 as Social Secretary and has enjoyed it so much she hasn’t left! Alex is a lawyer in the Welsh Government having undertaken her training contract there and is now qualified in the Health and Food team. In her spare time, Alex enjoys running, eating her way around the restaurants in Cardiff and shopping.
Connor is Treasurer for the committee 2016-17. Connor completed his undergraduate studies at Queens University, Belfast, before relocating to Cardiff in 2012 to start his legal career. He is a trainee solicitor at a national, commercial, practice based in Cardiff city-centre. Connor is a past Chair of the Cardiff & South East Wales JLD, and seeks to build on the ongoing successes of the local JLD for the year ahead.
Originally from North Wales, Jenny moved to Cardiff to undertake an Economics degree at Cardiff University, before moving back up North to complete her GDL and LPC at the University of Law in Chester. She is a lawyer at the Welsh Government, working within the Education and Welsh Language Team. This is Jenny’s fourth year on the committee, having previously been appointed as the publicity officer, social secretary and national representative.
Jade completed her Law Degree in 2015 and her LPC in 2016. She is now a Trainee Solicitor at Everett Tomlin Lloyd and Pratt and is in the first year of her training contract. This is Jade’s first year on the committee and she is looking forward to working with the JLD and the local law societies.
Lydia graduated from De Montfort University in 2010 after obtaining a Law and Public Policy degree. Intent on a career in Law, Lydia went on to complete the GDL and LPC in Birmingham. Lydia relocated to Wales in 2012 and began her career with a large law firm in Cardiff City Centre. Lydia started working with NWSSP Legal & Risk Services in 2014 and commenced her training Contract in September 2015. This is Lydia’s second year on the JLD Committee and she is thoroughly enjoying organising fantastic events for young lawyers in Cardiff and South East Wales area.
Charlotte is a graduate of the University of South Wales with a Masters of Law and Legal Practice. Charlotte is currently working in Watkins and Gunn Solicitors in the conveyancing department. Charlotte is an events coordinator on the committee planning and organising all events hosted by the JLD. Charlotte is a fluent welsh speaker and exercises this by Judging in annual Urdd Eisteddfod, Charlotte is a keen skier and plays netball for her local team. Charlotte is excited to start her second year on the committee.
Lowri is Events Co-ordinator for the year 2016-2017. Lowri completed her undergraduate degree in Law in Cardiff University in 2015, and her LPC in BPP University in 2016. Lowri is currently employed as a Trainee Solicitor in her first year in Eversheds LLP, in the Cardiff Office. This is Lowri’s first year on the JLD Committee. Lowri is a sociable person, and so will thoroughly enjoy her role of planning some fantastic events this year for the Cardiff and South East Wales JLD.
Michael has completed his undergraduate law degree at Aberystwyth University before undertaking master’s degree in Legal and Political Aspects of International Affairs at Cardiff University in 2015. In 2016, Michael has started LPC Part-Time at Cardiff University and is also currently working as a Legal Assistant at Acuity Legal. This year, Michael has joined the JLD Committee as an Event Coordinator and is looking to further develop junior lawyer’s strong national and local presence. Additionally, he hopes to stay in the JLD Committee in the coming years.
Sam graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2014 after obtaining a degree in Law and is currently completing her masters in professional legal practice at BPP University after finishing the LPC in June 2016. She is training at Eversheds and is currently in her first seat in Construction. This is Sam’s first year on the committee but she has plenty of experience of event planning having organised many events for her university law society, so she is excited to plan some amazing events for the JLD this year
